Principal Health and Safety Specialist

Health and safety is embedded within the foundations of the Bank’s principles and recognised as an integral part of sound business practice. The health and safety of both those directly involved in projects and the communities affected is of highest of priority to my Client, and can be the deciding factor when making investments. The Principal Health and Safety Specialist will advise at senior levels within the Bank.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Appraising, assessing, monitoring, and auditing the occupational health and safety of workers onsite, and communities impacted by investments
  • Liaising with and advising project teams in regards to expected health and safety issues at all stages of projects, offering mitigating solutions
  • Setting terms of reference and advising on the requirements for expert studies that are required

The successful candidate will:

  • Have extensive diverse experience of health and safety at a senior level within a range of industries
  • Be working towards or hold a Masters degree (or equivalent) in a related HSE field
  • Have project management experience with investment led projects, preferably in emerging markets

This position will involve working in high pressure situations in foreign environments with variety of stakeholders, exceptional communication skills are essential. The role also requires the ability to communicate technical ideas to non technical people, and the gravitas to persuade and influence decisions both on site and in the boardroom.

Extensive international travel will be required. Sound written and oral English is essential, one other language, particularly Russian is a definite advantage.
